AN "OTTERLY" AWESOME NEW YEAR

The new year welcomes new accommodations and exciting exhibits when you're ready to travel safely to our destination. The NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher’s new habitat, Otters on the Edge, is now open to visitors within the freshwater conservatory and is home to four Asian small-clawed otters. Maverick, the rescued bald eagle, also got a new habitat in the Aquarium's outdoor gardens. Experience the new exhibit at Fort Fisher State Historic Site, “From Slave to Soldier: the African American Experience at Fort Fisher” highlighting African Americans’ role in the fort's story. Joining the island's accommodation offerings, Kure Lighthouse Inn is just steps from the shore and offers luxury suite apartments, each accommodating up to four-six guests. When the time is right, book early as beachside rentals and oceanfront accommodations will be in high demand this spring and summer.
